Licensed Professional Counselor Licensure

This information is provided in good faith to applicants as of May 21, 2021.

The Licensed Professional Counselor track of the OnlinePsychology@Pepperdine program leads to a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. The designed outcome is to lead to eligibility for an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) license within California. States typically have additional post license requirements to become eligible for an independent practice license, including additional hours under supervision and testing. In California the independent practice license is Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), other states may have a different license name.

Pepperdine University has regional accreditation through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). OnlinePsychology@Pepperdine does not have specialized programmatic accreditation. States that require a specialized accreditor may have additional requirements for licensure.

The table below provides a state by state breakdown of comparable licenses, including a determination of eligibility for licensure. This information provided is designed as a baseline determination of whether the program meets individual state specific requirements. Other licenses may be more applicable and/or require additional standards. Licensure requirements and appropriate pathways are subject to change and may differ based on individual student backgrounds, including coursework taken outside the scope of the program. Students should do their own due diligence and determine the appropriate pathway and license type for themselves.
